For confidentiality reasons, I was not allowed to take pictures while working at the homeless shelter. I enjoyed every second of spending time with the people that were staying there. I, myself have had family struggles with money, but never to this extent. Volunteering to help take care of these amazing people helps me to realize that if it ever got that bad, that there would be people there for me to help me get back on my feet. Being able to spend time with them and hear their stories made me realize that they are normal people, they just hit a few bumps that were worse than others. Of the people staying at the church, most of them were very happy people, they loved to joke and laugh, tell stories and hear stories; and as I said in my Facebook post, the two little girls that I got to play with were so happy and full of life. They were all just thankful to have a warm place to stay, and a full meal to eat. This just goes to show, that simple things can make a person happy. There is no need for material items if we can just be happy with what we need. |
